MI-KI CHARACTERISTICS

The Mi-Ki is a rare, purebred, toy breed known for their elegance, good health, happy loving and engaging personalities, and longevity. Weights range between 3-10 pounds with 4-7 pounds being the average.

The Mi-Ki has been selectively bred for their calm demeanor with a propensity to learn quickly. Mi-Kis are very intelligent and are easy to train. They are great companion dogs as well as therapy and service dogs. They are a good choice for apartment living as well as roaming space.

They come in a variety of coat colors and patterns ranging from white, apricot, gold, brown, chocolate, black, blue, sable, red, parti colors, tri-colors , solids and more.

Because of their unique genetic mixture, there are two coat varieties; long coats and smooth coats. Smooth coats do not have furnishings; a beard or a mustache, and their body hair is shorter requiring minimal grooming. Canine genetic analysis verifies that long and smooth coated Mi-Ki's have the same genetic characteristic signatures which isn't surprising since their ancestry includes both coat types. Here at Rare Gem Mi-Ki's, we focus on breeding long coats.

Mi-Kis have very expressive ears. Their ears can be either up, down or winged and their ear set may change throughout maturity.

They are a low to non shedding, hypoallergenic breed. They have a single coat of hair instead of fur, making them a good choice for people who experience allergies around other breeds. Coat texture can be either silky or cottony and varies as they develop and reach full maturity. Both coat types are easy to maintain with regular brushing and combing.

Mi-Kis are an easy going, loving breed making them the perfect addition to most homes with people of all ages and various types of pets.
