Our Story

I have been an animal lover my whole life. Over the years I have raised all different breeds. Large , medium, and small, many rescues, but settled in for decades of Yorkies and Maltese. The Toy Breeds were my favorite then one day...

During the summer of 2004, a young lady was walking by with a bright eyed small dog, filled with energy, poise, and curiosity.

I was one of the things that little dog was curious about. It was interesting, because the feeling was definitely mutual. This little ball of light pranced over to me to give me kisses, and then surprisingly moved on to greet, meet and give kisses to all the people around our little spot. My heart skipped a beat. I knew immediately, I wanted a dog like that one! The young lady told me her dog was called a Mi-Ki. (pronounced Mee-Kee) Who what where how...the typical Mi-Ki questions. Upon my return to Cleveland , I started my quest on the internet to find my first Mi-Ki, Dolly.

That was 18 years ago. In those 18 years, I immersed myself in learning every possible morsel about the toy breed Mi-Ki. I learned that the Mi-Ki was both irresistible and equally in need of preservation breeding practices.

When I realized that I wanted to dedicate myself to the preservation of the Mi-Ki breed, I knew it could only be achieved in one way: to match the best genetically suitable pairings possible. The way I was going to accomplish that, was through extensive health testing and profiling. There is no perfect dog, but canine genetic studies address the most important information we breeders must respect in order to sustain the Mi-Ki breed.

Having a background in the Arts, I have come to combine Science and Art. Our birds eye view is to anticipate the next step forward for the Mi-Ki breed. We focus on canine genetics, breed standard conformation, disposition, health testing certifications,  and genetic course work.

Our program includes a full at-home laboratory including fluid evaluations. We use a world renown  Reproduction Veterinarian Practice and adhere to their breeding suggestions.

100% of our workday is at home with our pets. There is round the clock interaction, touching, loving, exercising, maintenance, and training throughout the day. They live in our home, snuggle on the couch/bed with us,  and have hours of fresh air and outdoor play daily.

We implement integrative science practices including:  puppy neuromuscular stimulation, canine reiki, feed a holistic safe-raw diet with ancestral grains,  and bridge that with canine training, show handling, and show grooming.

We continue our artistic involvement with our original newsletter design and content, original website design and content including 99% of our own photography, and our own original business card design.

We are unwavering regarding our responsibility and accountability for our precious animals.

Being a team player, for the benefit of the breed, includes our openness to sharing vital information and support towards helping other Mi-Ki Breeders advance their programs. We have published files and information packets, making them readily available.

These are just some of the ways we are fully invested and dedicated in our focus.  The preservation of the Mi-Ki breed for future generations, is our purpose.
