Ruthy Wolfson made certain that we were the “right” family for Shanti. Once we were selected to adopt Miss Enchanté we were not only kept informed about her cuteness and medical/vet progression, we also received a very detailed folder that included her full pedigree, proof of parentage with DNA certificate and full pet health records.
WOW, we can not express how exhilarated we were to get such a comprehensive packet so that we can give this information to her vet so we can keep her happy and healthy. "After meeting my friend’s Mi-Ki’s, having never heard of the breed prior to that, I started following the breeders on the various Mi-Ki Facebook pages. Rare Gem was not posting as often or seem to have as many puppies as some of the other breeders but when they did post the puppies and dogs were beautiful with great conformation. As I got closer to being ready for a new dog in my household I began reading the different breeder’s websites and found my philosophy of holistic health and feeding raw were in alignment with how Rare Gem was raising their puppies.
I completed the application for a future Rare Gem puppy. Ruthy of Rare Gem and I had a phone conversation when I told her what I was looking for in a dog, “had to be small as I planned on taking it everywhere with me, needed to be calm as I hoped to do therapy work with it and had to be female”. Ruthy thought a pup from one of her upcoming in the spring show hopeful litters would be a good choice for me. So I made a deposit and waited. But Ruthy reached out to me a few months later-she had a 5 month old female pup she had hoped to breed but she was just too small. From a looks and size perspective she was perfect.
And she is perfect, not just in how she looks but she is such an easy dog, came potty patch trained, slept through the night and she can entertain herself for hours. She is calm and always willing to go anywhere with me. She loves training and is so eager to please.
Ruthy was fabulous prior to me receiving Gifty, providing valuable information in order to help me prepare for having a puppy in my home. It was clear that Ruthy wanted to make sure her little girl was going to be well taken care of. Ruthy continues to provide support to me, answering any questions that come up and I think she truly appreciates the updates, videos and pics I continue to send her. I tell myself, only one! But if I ever change my mind I will be getting another dog from Rare Gem Mi-Kis."

"It was such a pleasure working with Rare Gem Mi-Kis in getting our fur baby! Rare Gem Sawyer (renamed Chewie) is an absolute doll. Ruthy was so kind and informative through the entire process. From the very first conversations that we had until after I brought Chewie home, she made sure I knew what to expect and what to prepare for. She is always there for me whenever I have any questions.
Also, you can just tell that Chewie came from a loving home and excellent
parents. He didn’t pee in his crate the entire plane ride home! He ate his food during our stopover and was such a good boy on the plane. Right when I put him on the pee pad after landing at home, he went pee!
He is such a happy boy. We love him so much. He has such a sweet demeanor and such a happy disposition.

"I wanted to give you an update on our precious Winston. He is such a good boy and SO darn smart! From the minute we got him home, he knew to potty on his pads. He has quickly learned many commands. He knows how to sit, come, and stay. He also fetches like a champ!
He is the funniest and SMARTEST dog I have ever had. I laugh at him all day long. It is amusing when he starts running really fast on the hardwoods and slows down. Then, he just slides across the floor!
I absolutely adore this little guy! I had to quit calling him "Baby" because he was beginning to think that was his name, so cute though.

We have never had an easier dog to train. He is so well socialized, so loving, and makes us laugh all the time. He gets along with our senior dog really well too. I catch them sleeping in the same bed during the day, and it's so cute!

"We met our neighbors’ Mi-ki some time ago. Moose is 13 years old, all black and so nice to be around. Once we found out that Betsy did not have an allergic reaction after petting him, we decided to investigate…
After a short search, we found Rare Gem Mi-Kis LTD and checked to see when they might have a puppy available. Amazingly, there was one little guy left, so we immediately filled out the adoption application.
Ruthy Wolfson, of Rare Gem Mi-Kis, quickly responded and we set up a time for a phone call that afternoon. On the phone with us, Ruthy patiently answered all of our questions and made sure that ours would be a good situation for both puppy and our family – She has an expertise and a real passion for this breed. She worked with us scheduling when we could pick up our new Rare Gem puppy, who we named Jupiter, and we ended up driving to Cleveland just 10 days later!

"We have been a previous Mi-Ki owner until our little guy passed away the morning of Valentine’s Day. Our Mi-Ki was incredibly loving, smart, at times very independent and brought a lot of joy to us. During the day we were fine going about our business but at night we missed him terribly so we got online to see a Mi-Ki and reminisce. We happened upon Rare Gem Mi-Kis and from that night on would pull up the video and watch Ruthy’s puppy’s play so we could laugh instead of cry before falling asleep.

It really hit home when the "puppy trainer" came for our first day of training- its turns out my puppies didn't need the Puppy course! They are so amazing and well adjusted... The first appointment for Puppy Training usually involves teaching the new parents about all things puppy. I already had the spaces well laid out, with toys, their food and schedule. "I was looking for more than a year for a toy breed that had certain traits, non-shedding, non barking, intelligent and good with small children and found the rare breed Mi-Ki to fit the bill. Contacting Ruthy through emails and phone I knew I had found a breed that met my needs but I had know idea how this little ball of fur would steal my heart.
My dog from the moment I picked him up has surprised me with the amount of affection and loyalty he has shown. In the 30 plus years that I have owned many different sized dogs and breeds from chihuahuas to Great Danes he is by far the easiest dog I have ever owned. His training has been effortless and as I travel out of the country regularly, he has been perfection on very long flights.
I am showered every morning with a thousand kisses and his tiny paws reach lovingly to my face throughout the day. He is so loving and just down right cute. He is also full of surprises, always the best behaved dog at the cafes we frequent on our travels and loves the beach and water. We will find out this week if he likes to boogie board (of course he has a life jacket!). He is my constant companion and is gentle with all children.

"It has been officially two weeks since we brought our little Rare Gem Edison home. He has quickly become the joy of our lives. We lost our sweet little Maltepoo last April and we weren't sure how to get through it. Fortunately, last winter, my cousin, Yleana, who flew from Austin, Texas to adopt a Mi-Ki from Ruthy Wolfson of Rare Gem Mi-ki, LTD, introduced me to this amazing breed and this amazing breeder.
3 weeks after my Gracie passed away, I contacted Ruthy to discuss the possibility of adopting one of her angels. It just so happened that they were hoping to find out soon if some pups would be on the way. Well, I immediately put in my bid for one. Her screening process impressed me. She just doesn't give up her pups to anyone. I completed the application and appreciated the fact that she wanted to be sure we would give her puppy a good home. She explained in detail to me her breeding process. I have a friend who is a breeder in Colorado and she was extremely impressed with Ruthy's credentials. I never realized how important this can be to a dog's health. My other dog had so many health problems, I just didn't want to have to deal with that again.
This little boy, Edison is the sweetest, most entertaining little fella and has enriched our lives once again. He is smart, (almost clever) and loving and devastatingly handsome. Everyone that meets him immediately falls in love. I've had quite a few people ask me for Ruthy's information.
You cannot be disappointed by this breeder. She loves these little puppies and just because they go to a new home, she doesn't stop caring about them. You know what impressed me the most? And this may sound silly, but, she asked me if something happened to my husband or I, who would take care of him. How many breeders think like that? "My husband, David and I adopted our little Mi-Ki, Nash in December 2016 from Rare Gem Mi-Kis. We arrived at the breeder’s home, Ruthy Wolfson and was pleasantly greeted. Ruthy handed me our little bundle of joy and he immediately took to us. So precious and adorable.
We had a unique opportunity to meet the other dogs and puppies including Nash’s parents. Nash had a brother who was also adorable and very friendly. Ruthy told us all about the history of the Mi-Ki and also explained the science behind the breeding and genetic testing.
We received a detailed book with everything we needed to know about Nash- from his pedigree, to his DNA, to his immunizations records, genetic health testing and more. We also received a deluxe puppy pack filled with goodies and a Sheba travel bag. Just everything needed to bring home your new puppy.
We received a brief tour of the home and everything was just perfect for breeding and raising healthy puppies. The puppy play area and the home modifications for the dogs emphasized that Ruthy is a dedicated and careful breeder.
Little Nash was already potty trained to antimicrobial grass and he very easily transitioned to our home. He immediately became best friends with my 15-year-old Coton de Tulear. Frank is a sweet, layed back, almost cat-like (in a chubby cat like way) and loves to cuddle, especially with his daddy ! I’ve never had a
dog before, so in beginning the search for one, I was completely at odds
knowing where to start. After
considering many breeds that would be compatible with my family and our
lifestyle, I was lucky to encounter an owner of a Mi-Ki. Knowing VERY little about dogs, this
particular breed not only seemed like a perfect match, but almost seemed too
good to be true. The intelligence, and
temperament. The adaptability, and
loving nature of this breed seemed almost unreal. Thus began my internet search. After sifting through endless Mi-Ki breeders
and websites, I came across Rare Gem Mi-Ki’s.
Falling in love with the picture of one particular puppy was easy! Who could resist this little face I’m seeing
in the pictures that were posted! But
getting a dog online, that we had never seen in person, and in another state,
seemed risky.
Upon making
contact with Ruthy, who is the proud owner of Rare Gem Mi-Ki’s, I had an
instant sense that I was happening upon something really special. With my interest, she sent me links to videos
showing me this precious little puppy in motion to get a real sense of her
disposition. What I could see is that
this puppy was being raised in a very loving environment, and had such a huge,
happy spirit that I knew it was getting the right start in life. I spoke to Ruthy over the period of a few weeks,
during which I was educated on this particular breed, and convinced that the
love that her dogs were given, would translate into a healthy, happy new
addition to our family. Between the
actual purchase, and delivery of this darling puppy, Ruthy took every call, and
answered every possible question a new dog owner may have. Through my contact with her, it became very
clear that choosing the right breeder is as vital as the right puppy,
regardless of how much you fall in love with its picture.
Our darling
little BlueBelle arrived exactly one month ago and in all honesty, it’s already
hard to remember life before she got here.
She is healthy, happy, and just the most loving puppy I could have ever
imagined. We have serious allergy issues
in my family which were a big concern before her arrival. There has not been as much as a sniffle in
relation to our new family member- which is HUGE! When faced with questions about BlueBelle,
Ruthy remains a constant source of information, as well as inspiration. Her love of these dogs is truly genuine, and
translates into breeding the healthiest, happiest, and most well-adjusted
animal you could ever hope for.
Where once the
notion of getting a dog over the internet seemed just crazy- I have no doubt whatsoever
that coming across Rare Gem Mi-Ki’s was a true blessing. This particular breed which I have found to
be largely unheard of and rare, still seems too good to be true. With a start into this world that Ruthy

"Kenzie is a keeper!
We bought our second Mi-Ki from Ruthy of Rare Gem Mi-Kis in March. Our first Mi-Ki who is now almost 8 years old had us completely in love with this breed. Kenzie has confirmed this time and time again. She gets along with both Gracie and Bailey. Gracie is the older Mi-Ki and Bailey is our Himalayan. They run and play all over the house until one gets tired and needs a nap. Kenzie is eating on a regular schedule twice a day, and sleeps all night long from around 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. She was so easily housebroken from that first month.
She is a joy with any friends or family that come over, loves to be held, and gets plenty of attention. These truly are great pets, family members, friends, and companions. Kenzie was delivered to us in a safe and secure dog carrier, with plenty of toys, food, framed photo, and health records. We immediately took her to our local vet and she got a clean bill of health. I am a believer in rescue dogs and realize that all pets are worthy of a good home, I know this breed is an investment and with no intentions of ever breeding her it is well worth every penny.
Small dogs need special time and attention, food and grooming, along with lots of love. We are blessed to be able to provide that and look forward to many years of happiness with such a loving companion. These are very smart and HAPPY dogs, so the love comes easily."

"I want to share my Mi-Ki story and how we came about getting the cutest dog in the world:
I had no thoughts or intentions on getting a dog until one day I entered a store and a woman had three adorable MiKi’s that popped their head from a sling. I knew from that moment I wanted a Mi-Ki. I put the idea aside for a while and mulled it over with my daughter until she agreed it was time to get one. However it till took a long time because although I thought they were the cutest dog, we could not find one that we fell in love at first sight or agreed upon. We searched websites of breeders and for the longest time nothing, we came close but no firm agreement between us.
One day I ran across Rare Gem Mi-Ki’s LTD and saw three of the most beautiful puppies named Faith, Hope and Charity. I knew immediately I had to get one of these fine beauties. They were PERFECT, beautiful colors and faces - - especially the eyes are the qualities I look for. But the next challenge was getting my daughter to agree which I was not very hopeful since we were not agreeing on any so far. As soon as I showed my daughter she had the same reaction I did and said “yes Mom this is the one”.
So I reached out to Ruthy right away and we weren’t sure which if any of the three were available, but all three were so beautiful it didn’t matter which one we would potentially get. We knew we wanted a long hair and a girl and were lucky that Hope was available. From that moment on our excitement was uncontrollable and could not wait to get her. She was in Ohio so we were not sure how we were going to get her.
I had spoken to other Mi-Ki breeders who are all so nice and Ruthy was the best! She made us feel so calm and not to worry. She would to deliver Hope from Ohio personally. Then reality set in, we were getting a dog and all the questions came to mind as well as I needed to get ready to bring a dog into our home. This was not an ordinary dog, Mi-Ki’s are special! It was very important to Ruthy that her puppies go to the right home. We clicked immediately, she heard the excitement and love we had for Miki’s so we made her feel comfortable as well. She was so helpful and answering all my questions, what food to buy, vitamins, beds, grooming, well -being, padding, the dogs temperament and what to expect. I called her so many times to confirm exactly what I needed and she was so patient to provide guidance, information, and support. Now I couldn’t wait to meet Ruthy just as much as getting the dog! We met her at LaGuardia airport and watched every person who came off the plane with dogs and there were a few. But as soon as we saw Ruthy and her carrying this open aired carrier with the cutest dog in the world inside we knew. We were so excited, she was so precious and we were so happy!!
Since having Hope with us this past year it has been wonderful and we are so happy. Even after getting the dog, questions still popped up and reached out to Ruthy; she as always so nice and helpful. I Love her, she is not just a breeder but a friend. I did not have to wait to reach out to her, she would reach out to me and check in to see if everything was OK and how Hope was doing. I cannot imagine being a breeder and having to give up the puppies, they are truly the best dogs ever and so convinced we made the right choice with Rare Gem Mi-Ki’s! ……P.S. we kept the name Hope as well."

"Ruthy Wolfson of RARE GEM MI-KIS is wonderful! She met me at the Cleveland Airport with little LINUS, complete with his records, travel pack and a generous goody bag stuffed with food, toys and travel essentials.
LINUS is a chubby, very healthy (according to my vet), well-socialized bundle of fluff. I have noticed no timidity towards people or other dogs. It is obvious that he has been well-loved while in her care. He actively seeks out humans for affection, which shows how much time he has been touched and cuddled in these first weeks! And as a bonus, he came to me (almost completely) trained to use his grass mat as a potty ( a blessing during our recent snow storm).
I am sure I will add "Lucy, Sally, or Shroeder" to my family in a couple of years, and Ruthy will be my first call!"
